Listening text 1

As Iran endures a cold winter, locals have worked out a creative plan to help the homeless keep warm. Voluntary “walls of kindness”, on which people can donate unwanted clothing, have popped up around the country. The idea quickly spread to other cities including China fuelled by thousands of Chinese on social media.

Listening text 2

School children in China learn that the opening of the East-West trading route popularly known as the Silk Rode took place in 139 B.C when Zhang Qian, the Chinese ambassador- adventure, traveled westward across the Pamirs, a mountain range in Central Asia. He was the first known Chinese person to do so.

In the government work report during the 4th session of 12th National People’s Congress, Premier Li Keqiang introduced the concept of “spirit of the Craftsman” to encourage enterprises to foster a craftsmanship spirit of striving for the best, so that we can crate our brand products. To carry forward the spirit of the crafts- man will drive China from a manufacturer of quantity to a manufacturer of quality.
