Eg:  我国的端午节是纪念屈原的日子。那一天，人们通常要赛龙舟、吃粽子。

注解：对于“屈原”，中国人耳熟能详，但西方人比较陌生，因此翻译时可以适当增译补充说明的信息， 如 the ancient poet。 “粽子”也是西方人所不熟悉的食品，可以增添注释进行说明，让外国读者能够理解相关的中国传统。

参考译文：On Dragon Boat Festival, a day set aside in memory of the ancient  poet Qu Yuan, people will hold dragon boat races and eat zongzi, a kind of glutinous rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves.

Eg:  西餐馆经过装修和扩建，现有三个餐厅和一个贵宾间、240个座位。

注解：原文中的“240个座位”指“西餐馆里总共有240个座位”，翻译时添加了词组 a total of, 以免读者误以为“贵宾间有240个座位”。

参考译文：Newly extended and refitted, the western restaurant now has three dining rooms and a VIP room, for a total of 240 seats.

Eg: 2000年前，秦始皇修筑的长城是防御性的。

注解：原文中的“秦始皇” 不可能亲自去“修筑长城”，因此翻译时增译了 command 一词，说明“秦始皇命令修筑长城”，以使译文的意思更为清晰、准确。

参考译文：The first emperor of the Qin Dynasty commanded the building of the Great Wall 2,000 years ago for the purpose of defense.
